Our MOUs

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS AND MOUs BETWEEN FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY, OSOGBO AND OTHER UNIVERSITIES AND INSTITUTIONS
Fountain University, in its quest to foster academic collaboration with local and foreign universities in the form of faculty and student exchange, joint research, exchange of publication, sponsorship of conference, provision of learning support, learning resources or facilities and other academic activities has signed a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with a number of Universities. The effort by the University to seek for more international collaborations is still ongoing. Currently, the University has signed an MOU with one local and five foreign universities. These are:
(1)       INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, MALAYSIA (IIUM)

On 8 January, 2013, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Fountain University, Osogbo, Nigeria, was signed.   The areas of cooperation specified in Article 2 of the MoU include, among others, “Student and staff exchange”, and Article 6 (1) of the document states as follows: This Memorandum of Understanding will come into effect on the date of signing and will remain in effect for a period of five (5) years. Other areas of cooperation include the following:

Collaboration in research
Staff to pursue Master/PhD programme to enrich Islamic values
Exchange of Islamic Curriculum/Teaching Module
Exchange of Research Materials
Exchange of ICT development in academic; and
Any other area of cooperation to be mutually agreed upon.
DURATION: This MOU will come into effect on the date of signing and will remain in the effect for a period of five (5) years. This MOU may be extended for a period as may be agreed in writing by the parties.

(2)       INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA, SUDAN (IUA)

As part of our efforts to internationalize our University and operations, the process of formalizing a collaboration with the International University of Africa (IUA) in Khartoum sometimes in November 2103. The MOU with IUA has a five year validity period. The areas of cooperation include:

Staff and Student exchange
Exchange of Students on three months summer Intensive Arabic Language training.
 Exchange of information and best practices in the areas of Curriculum Development; and Arabic and Islamic Translation
Exchange of contribution in publications such as Journals, Newsletters, brochures etc.
Collaboration in Research and Project Work
Joint Research
Conference hosting
Access to digital libraries
Joint sporting events etc.
On the Three-Month Intensive Arabic Proficiency for our students, the Management of IUA agreed to give FUO a quota of 60 students made up of 35 Males and 25 Females; the first set is expected by July 2015. The programme would be for 12 weeks of 360 hours i.e. 6 hrs/day/5 days/week. The MOU is for 5 years.

(3)       SKYLINE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, SHARJAH, UAE

Fountain University signed an MOU wit Skyline University College in June, 2014. The areas of cooperation between the two institutions include the following:

Exchange of Expertise and knowhow of the best practices
Faculty and Student exchange
Exchange of information and best practices
Exchange of contribution in Publications
Conference participation
Facilitate towards Program review
Collaboration in Research and Project work
(4)       SUDAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, KHARTOUM (SUSTECH)

Collaboration and MOU was signed with Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUSTECH) Khartoum. The collaboration with SUSTETECH include possibility of SUSTECH providing scholarship to our staff to study for their PhDs in their university and to also include collaboration on distance education; SUSTECH is ranked 2 in Sudan, 40 in Africa and 2678 in the world (4icu 2015 ranking). The MOU is for 3 years in the first instance.

(5)       NON-SUDANESE STUDENTS WELFARE ORGANIZATION (NSSWO).

An MOU was signed with Non-Sudanese Students Welfare Organization (NSSWO). To facilitate and ensure the smooth running of the various MOUs and on the request of the School of Arabic for Non-Arab Students, IUA, the Non-Sudanese Students Welfare Organization was appointed as representative of FUO solely for the welfare of our students while in Sudan. NSSWO is a NGO that was established by the First Vice President of Sudan and is partially funded by the Sudanese Government. With the assistance of Sheik Abdalla Makki of NSSWO FUO was registered with WAMY Africa office as a Muslim University in Africa and hopefully we will in further receive communication from them. This will also open up doors for possible assistance in several other areas.

(6)       OTHER FOREIGN COLLABORATIONS IN THE PIPELINE

Fountain University is establishing contact with several other international institutions for mutual benefits.

Contact with African Affairs Director, Headquarters of WAMY, Dr. Robbi Elhajj, who is currently facilitating the Fountain University's Request for Assistance in establishing an Institute for Arabic Translation and Training (INATT) to Dr. Solih Alwuhaeybiy, WAMY Executive Secretary-General in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.

Finally, we also submitted a request to the Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Lanuage, established over 40 years ago to handle mostly Postgraduate studies and certificate programs. We approached the Management for a possible THREE MONTH Intensive Arabic Proficiency programme. The representative of FUO, NSSWO is following up and soon we will have a feedback from them.

We are expecting a response from the Management of Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Language (KIIAL) on the Three-Month Arabic Proficiency programme.

(7)       MOU WITH OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY

An MOU between Fountain University and Osun State University was signed on 2nd December, 2013. The terms of agreement in the memorandum by the two institutions include the following:

To encourage visits by Faculty from one University to the other for the purpose of engaging in collaborative research
To foster joint development of research proposal for funding in order to enhance joint conduct of research
To foster the exchange of academic of academic publications and scholarly information
To foster joint organization of conferences, workshops and public lecture
To promote other academic activities which enhance the above goals
Both Universities agree to review this MOU after five (5) years following the date of signing and acknowledge this memorandum is subject to review and termination at any time by mutual consent or by 90 days written notice by either party.
