Fountain University played host to Officials of the National Youth Service Corp on January 21, 2015 at the orientation programme for prospective corps members of the University at the Eti-Osa Lecture Theatre of the University.
Mr Amusan O.J, Assistant Director Of NYSC Corp mobilization in his address gave the new directives on the modalities of mobilization of new corp members in areas of online registration and payment as required by the scheme. He explained that NYSC scheme was established by decree 24, May 22, 1973 in order to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the National Entity of Nigeria after the National Civil war.
It is also aimed at proper development of common ties between Nigerian youths and promotion of National Unity. He emphasized the three major stages of the programme which include the first three weeks Orientation, Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), Secondary Assignment which is the Community Development Service (CDS) and the Passing out Parade (POP).
Mr. Issa, the Local Government Inspector of Osogbo Local Government implored the prospective corp members to put in their best and participate actively in all activities during their service year as there are rewards for outstanding performance which include monetary benefit, an award from the president of Nigeria, scholarship to study a post graduate programme in any part of the world and employment in the federal public service
