JUM’AT SERMON OF 9TH OCTOBER, 2015 (26TH DHUL-HIJAH, 1436)
I seek refuge in Allah (S.W.T.) against Ashaytan, the accursed. In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the merciful.
Praise be to Allah, the Most High Who controls all beings. I bear witness that there is only One, Indivisible, Peerless, Matchless, God and Lord of the universe. I also bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. May Allah’s blessings and peace abide with the Prophet Muhammad, his family, companions, descendants and all faithful Muslims worldwide?
This sermon is going to be based on the good qualities Muslim must try to acquire, and these qualities were known to be Muslim code of behaviour.
Doing good and having the right belief go hand in hand in Islam. In fact, doing good in practice is the proof of having the right belief in the heart. This is why the Holy Qur’an speaks of the true Muslims very often as “ those who believe and do good deeds” Both Qur’an and the holy Prophet have told Muslims that the best among them is that person who shows the best behaviour towards other people.
There are many best behaviours that are expected from a true Muslims, they are as follow: Truthfulness, Sincerity, Humility, Patience, Forgiveness, Honesty, Courage, Moderation, Cheerfulness and many more.
Oh you servants of Allah! Permit me to explain only five out of all these Muslims code of behaviours.
Firstly: SINCERITY, is the act of serving Allah wholeheartedly without making a show off of all our acts of Al’ibadah. Allah says: “ serve Allah being sincere to him in obedience” (39:2)
He says againg, “Woe to to those who pray but are unmindful of their prayer, who do good to be seen” (107:4-6)
Secondly: HUMILITY, it is a quality of being humble and it signifies lowliness or submissiveness before Allah and man. Allah says: “ the servants of Allah the Most Beneficient are those who walk on the earth with humility “ (25:63). He says again, “Do not ascribe purity to yourselves. Allah knows best who is righteous” (53:32).
Thirdly: MODERATION, in Islam moderation means the act of averting extreme conduct of Muslims in all their spheres of life. Allah says: “ ….eat and drink, but do not be immoderate” (3:146)
He says further, “ Give good news to the patient, who, when a misfortune befalls them , say,: We are Allah’s and to Him do we return”. (2:155-156)
Lastly: COURAGE, a Muslim must be courageous in order to fit to combat any situation he may find himself, and should not allow any fear that will kill the Iman (faith) in him. Speaking of a small number of Muslims facing a big and powerful enemy, Qur’an relates: “ Those to whom men said, people have gathered against you, so fear them , but this increased their faith and they said: Allah is sufficient for us and He is an excellent Guardian” (3:173)
Let us seek for forgiveness from Allah, He is surely there to forgive all our sins……………..
