Works and Physical Planning Unit

First Schedule, Part B, Section B of the Fountain University Law 2007 makes provision for the appointment of Director of Works and Physical Planning Unit to take care

 

of the Unit.

Since inceptions to date, the Unit is yet to have a Director.

The Pioneer staff in this unit, Mr Babawale, Abiola, a Senior Technical Officer (then a Higher Technical Officer) joined the services of the University in January 2008 and handled he affairs of this unit for a period of about one year; intermittently assisted by another Pioneer staff in the Unit, Mr Olaniyan, Rauf who is presently a Technical Officer II (then an Assistant Technical Officer II). Mr Olaniyan had to double as a Technical Officer as well as an Office Assistant in the Vice-Chancellor’s/Pro-Chancellor’s office due to paucity of staff.

Engr. Bello, Isiaka joined the services of the University as a Principal Engineer in February 2009 and he had since then been the Officer-in-Charge of the Unit. Within the period under review, Engr. Bello showed very strong dedication and commitment to duty and would embark on several assignments without complaints. Under the leadership of Mr Babawale, Works and Physical Planning Unit super

ed several projects as itemised in Section 5 of this Report.

Some of the significant ones include:

                         (a).            Reporting on the routine inspection on University buildings, general repairs and maintenance

                         (b).            Supervision of the providers of outsourced Cleaning and Gardening Service

                         (c).            General Maintenance of electricity and water supply

                         (d).            Structural design and supervision of the Male and Female Hostels Phase II

 

                         (e).            Involved in the supervision of NAFSAT Eti-Osa Lecture Theatre, Female Hostel Phase III and Male Hostel Phase III

                           (f).            Structural design and supervision of Laboratory Extension Building.
